Application Closes: not posted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are seeking a full-time <strong>Environmental Health and Safety Specialist<\/strong> at Garmin&#8217;s U.S. location in Salem, OR. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating, promoting and maintaining Environmental, Health and Safety standards in accordance with all Federal and State regulations for Garmin Properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Mon-Fri 8:00am &#8211; 5:00pm<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Essential Functions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Coordinate and maintain training of Garmin\u2019s safety and environmental programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain and update Company wide Material Safety Data sheets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Administer company-wide safety management and conduct training for programs such as Hazard Communications, Bloodborne Pathogens, Lockout\/Tagout, Emergency Action Plan, Hazardous Material Disposal and Emergency Management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Represent Garmin International to external organizations regarding facility environmental, health and safety<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs by collecting and disposing of materials in accordance with Federal and State standards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor for changes in OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) or other applicable regulatory agencies that may affect ongoing business activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain accident investigation and near miss reports for incidents on Garmin property<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responsible for developing process improvements on existing safety programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct site inspections to assess compliance with company environmental safety plans<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor contractor safety programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide continuous, swift, and accurate feedback to Operations Management regarding all Safety matters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist in maintaining established departmental policies and procedures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinate and track EHS communication and participation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Basic Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related Health or Safety field <strong>OR<\/strong> an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated knowledge of safety, hazardous materials and environmental regulation and practices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must possess demonstrated project management experience relevant to Garmin\u2019s business needs for performing the essential functions of this role<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must possess demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and state\/federal regulations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be familiar with and possess a working knowledge of manufacturing and warehouse processes relevant for successful performance of this role<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively across functional and organizational lines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must possess proficiency using Microsoft software including Word and Excel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Detail-oriented and work proactively and effectively with little supervision while exercising sound judgment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Desired Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hazard Analysis experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safety or Environmental related Professional Certifications (e.g. CSP, CIH, CHMM)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
