Does your degree program require an internship?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAIF Corporation is offering a summer internship program for college students pursuing a degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, nursing, public health, or environmental safety and health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At SAIF, we\u2019re not your typical insurance company. As a publicly owned workers\u2019 compensation insurer, we\u2019re committed to creating a healthier, safer workforce.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll work with seasoned professionals, including safety management consultants and a team holding certifications in industrial hygiene, ergonomics, safety, and occupational health nursing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll tackle meaningful real-world challenges and projects directly impacting workplace safety\u2014from hazard evaluations to report writing.&nbsp;With a Total Worker Health\u00ae focus, you\u2019ll discover how different disciplines intersect to improve overall well-being at home and work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re self-motivated, organized, and passionate about health and safety, apply to join us in our efforts to make Oregon the safest place to work.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Learn and apply consulting strategies on a variety of occupational safety and health issues, focusing on enhancing the health and well-being of Oregon workers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist safety and health staff with onsite consultations and analyses of a variety of policyholders\u2019 work environments. Assess exposure to a variety of physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards, using occupational health regulations, standards, and best practices to reduce and\/or eliminate safety and health risks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Evaluate and document observations, analysis findings, and recommendations. Author technical reports and correspondence for policyholders; submit for internal quality review.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research, analyze, and summarize occupational safety and health issues and trends using a variety of data sources and systems. Develop recommendations to improve outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Work with SAIF staff as needed to review, update, or create safety and health resources, web content, or training for our customers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learn about the collaboration between safety and health and workers\u2019 compensation insurance in Oregon. Learn about stakeholders and business partners.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explore diverse perspectives and consistently behave sensitively toward differences in cultural norms, expectations, and ways of communicating. Work effectively with others who have different perspectives, backgrounds, and\/or work styles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continually sustain the Inclusive Leadership Competencies (ILC) through the Explorer level on an annual basis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This position requires driving a SAIF vehicle or personal vehicle on behalf of SAIF. The incumbent is required to possess and maintain a valid driver\u2019s license in their state of residence along with an acceptable driving record according to SAIF\u2019s policy.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Required qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, nursing, public health, or environment safety and health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recommended qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team doing complex, confidential work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Superior problem-solving, research, and writing skills demonstrating an ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and persuasive way.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft products such as MS Office, MS Outlook, and Office 365.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience using industrial hygiene and ergonomic equipment used to assess exposures is preferred.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other combinations of skills and experience may be considered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Internship details<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Timeframe: Approximately 12 weeks during summer break 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Location: Internship will be based out of our corporate office in Salem, Oregon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Next step<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To receive consideration, please submit your resume with a cover letter by the close of this recruitment.
