And you play a part in shaping the future of the outdoors, for people and our planet.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This position contributes to REI\u2019s success through the development, implementation and oversight of a comprehensive environmental, health, and safety program to reduce risk and potential losses due to accidents and injuries, compliance violations, or hazardous conditions.&nbsp; This position contributes to the strategic direction of the EHS program for operational teams across the co-op. Models and acts in accordance with REI\u2019s guiding values and mission.<br><strong>Responsibilities and Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsibilities&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Supports implementation of the Environmental Health and Safety programs according to corporate safety strategy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Works to foster ownership and accountability for EHS at all levels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plans, develops, and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plans and conducts periodic audits, inspections and walkthroughs of assigned facilities to validate compliance to Co-op standards and local, state, and federal agency regulations including, but not limited to OSHA, EPA, and DOT.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct Job Hazard Analysis and other hazard assessments including ergonomic evaluations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assists operational management teams with developing action plans to address safety deficiencies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reports or reviews findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, and\/or environmental testing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Researches, validates and reports on facility health and safety trends, including incident frequency and severity rates and reviews incident trends and performs root cause analysis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensures inspection programs for facilities, machinery, and safety equipment are being administered effectively to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recommends process and product changes to reduce employee exposure to workplace hazards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drives or participates on cross-functional improvement teams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provides guidance and direction on crisis and emergency situations including natural disasters, emergencies, and workplace violence in collaboration with key partners.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establishes and supports employee safety training.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Five or more years of progressive work experience in the EHS discipline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage program implementation and tracking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Display effective partnership-based problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of EHS principles as well as applicable state and federal requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Self-directed and results oriented team member.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has a successful history of utilizing a partnership-focused and data-led leadership methodology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to direct, train and mentor at all levels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication as well as the ability to develop rapport and credibility at all levels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Display effective problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree or equivalent experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>May require 50%+ travel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creates an effective, mutually supportive work spirit and culture where people can do their best.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establishes trust and inspires others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Makes effective organization and people decisions in a manner consistent with REI&#8217;s values and ethics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delivers on commitments and holds others to same.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Champions the organization and advocates solutions in the overall Company&#8217;s best interest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound conclusions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Considers the ultimate impact of recommendations and actions on internal and external customers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knows how to fosters change in organizational culture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSP or advanced certification\/degree with an EHS focus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Closing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>At REI, we believe the outdoors is for all.<\/strong>&nbsp;We are committed to becoming a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rei.com\/newsroom\/article\/rei-antiracist-multicultural-fully-inclusive-commitment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a>fully inclusive, anti-racist, multicultural organization.
