After taking the IPIP test, I have quite a better understanding of myself. How I will act in the workplace and the type of person that I am. My scores in the five dimensions of personality were interesting to me. My score on extraversion was average, 61. indicating I am neither a subdued loner nor a jovial chatterbox. You enjoy time with others but also time alone. My score on agreeableness was average, 33. indicating some concern with others’ Needs, but, generally, unwillingness to sacrifice yourself for others. My score on conscientiousness was average, 36. This means I am reasonably reliable, organized, and self-controlled. My score on neuroticism was average, 64. indicating that my level of emotional reactivity is typical of the general population. Stressful and frustrating situations are somewhat upsetting to me, but generally I am able to get over these feelings and cope with these situations. However, my score on openness was low, 13. indicating that I like to think in plain and simple terms. Others describe you as down-to-earth, practical, and conservative.
I think a potential employer could look at my results and make the judgment that I’m a pretty balanced person. I was average in every category except openness, which surprises me, but I think some weaknesses could be determined there. I do not have much artistic interest, and it appears my intellect could also be a weakness. You could assume that I am not very opened to new ideas and I’m not the biggest fan of change. However, some of my strengths that could be determined are that I have a lot of self-efficacy, I’m a pretty confident person. Another one my strengths is that I am very trustworthy, and I can put a lot of trust into people, meaning I would work well in teams. I seek excitement and my activity level is high. An employer could determine I am not afraid of challenges and I’m fine with taking a hard road. The last strength an employer could determine is that I am very friendly, which is great for building relationships which means I can be a very effective communicator.
