Critiquing a Recruitment Ad

I believe my brand as a potential employee is outgoing personable and hardworking. I am a social butterfly and have no problem making connections and this has helped me in job searches. I really listen and create meaningful conversations with people and be personable. I would say one of the strengths that I present is that I really do come ready to work and get started. If I make a connection and get steps to apply for a job or start the process I will do them immediately. I will fill out the survey, take the quiz, and provide references as soon as I can. My weakness is that although I am very social and can talk to people I am a terrible interviewer. I get so nervous and forget to mention every good thing about myself as a candidate.

I really do enjoy working and have a hard time when I do not have work to do. So, if I found myself in the position to create a situation wanted ad in a creative way, I would start by titling it “Yearning for work”. I think that a lot of people “need work” or “won’t work” but thinking setting myself apart to show that I actually want this work to feel fulfilled would help me stand out. I also would put all of the jobs I have had and the jobs that were expected of me there that, such as things I would include on my resume. However, in this situation wanted ad I would also include all of the extra tasks I did that were not in the job descriptions that I took on because I ran out of work or saw that they needed to be done and no one else was doing them. I would also make sure to include that I am a really fun and agreeable person so I would add to any work environment. I would also add that I have been promoted in every role that I have had before, and within weeks at some. This would help tell people that I am not only a hard worker but tend to be good at the work that I do and have what it takes to learn, practice, and get skills down to be able to move up in the company in the several different industries that I have worked in.

    Hello Elisabeth,

It can be difficult to carve out a brand for someone who perhaps does not have a ton of experience in the exact job yet. Your idea to show yourself as a personable and very interested in moving forward in a position is a great way to show that you have all the building blocks of a successful professional. Enterprising employers may recognize this in you and see the potential to train you in the hard skills you may need in order to success in your future role. You did a great job describing a brand that could work to attract attention, thanks for sharing!

Hi Elizabeth! I like that your brand yourself is that you are outgoing and and personable! I think that those, along with hardworking, are great traits to have. Being outgoing makes it easier to communicate with others, and really dive deep into the success of a business. Being outgoing goes along with listening and being understanding to those, which lead to great attributes as well. I also liked your creative ad. I liked creating a title and having something that stands out. Great post!

    Hey Elizabeth,

I really enjoyed your post and it seems that you have great strengths. It’s good that you’re a social butterfly it makes it way easier to have professional interactions. Especially when you’re a good communicator it’s easier for employers to see that you are hard-working and can work well with others. I like your situation ad, I think you covered a lot of information especially for including things from your resume. It’s important to keep it short and sweet so it’s easy for a recruiter to read it all. I really liked your blog post!

Hi Elisabeth, I can definitely relate to your need and yearning for work. During my current job, sometimes we have slow days and I cannot just stand around, I need to be walking around, finding other tasks I can do, restocking, etc. I am not a good interviewer as well, I am a people person and can talk just fine but when I am put on the spot, it’s completely different. I think your idea of portraying your situation wanted ad is a great way for you to catch the eyes of prospective organizations. Speaking from working with you in the Human Resources course, any organization would be lucky to have you and the strengths you have. Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Elisabeth,

I think that you frame your strength and ambition in a very interesting way. You gave clear and defined examples of how you consistently seek out more work when you are left with no clear tasks, and that is an attractive quality for employers. I also think that you did a good job of highlighting your personability and people skills. Your approach to a situation wanted ad is unique and articulate, good job!

    Hello Elizabeth,

I found this to be a fantastic post. Throughout reading your blog, I could really connect with much of what you were saying. Yearning for work is such a positive way to express looking for a position. This seems like a great way to explain to an employer that you are looking for work but also want work to be busy and productive. Great post

    Hello Elizabeth,

I think you did a great job outlining your personal brand of who you are to potential employers. I also liked how you listed your weaknesses in your brand too. I think this helps show the kind of person you are to your employers. I liked your title Yearning for work, and I also agree that it would help land you a job quicker than the rest.
