(<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/fairtradecampaigns.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">http:\/\/fairtradecampaigns.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">) We are working to promote what we are doing and inspire students to be mindful of their own purchases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is Fair Trade?<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/files\/2016\/10\/image00.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-9598 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/files\/2016\/10\/image00.png\" alt=\"image00\" width=\"199\" height=\"275\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fair Trade is a non-profit organization created to bridge the gap between big corporations and underpaid farmers, support the environment and create more sustainable ways of production for foods we consume every day. \u00a0Many farmers are rural peoples in South America and Africa and barely make enough the keep living; sometimes to only making between 1-3% of the price the product is eventually sold. \u00a0Fair Trade works to give the producers an <strong>equitabl<\/strong>e cut of pay to allow them to continue their work and even promotes more <strong>sustainable farming<\/strong> practices to further help them, as well as the environment. \u00a0Companies can become Fair Trade certified and are able to put the Fair Trade trademark on their products. \u00a0Some main products through fair trade include <strong>coffee, tea, cocoa and sugar<\/strong>.
