Check out what our alumni have been up to since graduation and\u00a0see what a difference they&#8217;ve made\u00a0in solving global challenges!<\/h3>\n<p>This profile is all about <strong>Nick Somnitz<\/strong>, a 2012 graduation of both Construction Engineering Management and\u00a0Business &amp; Enterpreneurship! Nick previously worked for the <a href=\"http:\/\/fa.oregonstate.edu\/sustainability\">Sustainability Office<\/a> as the\u00a0Energy Project Student Technician and Energy Project Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/files\/2016\/04\/0272_6064.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8971 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/files\/2016\/04\/0272_6064-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"0272_6064\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>During his time at OSU:\u00a0<\/strong>Nick worked as the <strong><span style=\"color: #339966\">Energy Project Student Tech<\/span><\/strong> at the Sustainability Office from 2011-2012 and worked on a multitude of projects. His duties in his position included many things, such as coordinating a<a href=\"http:\/\/fa.oregonstate.edu\/sustainability\/ground-mounted-photovoltaic-arrays\"> 2.2 MW ground mounted photo voltaic solar system<\/a>,\u00a0managing state funded energy saving projects, performing electric, water, and steam meter reads for billing and MEP troubleshooting, outreach to educate public of current projects and energy savings practices, and more! His favorite part about the position was being able to <strong><span style=\"color: #339966\">manage\u00a0and coordinate energy saving projects around campus<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Since OSU:<\/strong> Nick is currently working as an Estimator for a general contractor, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dorman-const.com\/\">Dorman Construction, Inc<\/a>. He was married last year and currently lives in Eugene. As a hobby, he raises chickens and harvests their eggs. <strong><span style=\"color: #339966\">Nick is working on energy savings projects in his own home<\/span><\/strong>. After replacing the lighting, he installed a heat pump water heater. For his next project, Nick will be upgrading the plumbing fixtures!<\/p>\n<p>Nick feels that the most valuable thing he got out of his experience working for the Sustainability Office was his expanded knowledge of energy savings project and outreach skills.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We\u2019re so proud to see Nick\u00a0continuing to do great things!
