{"id":1958,"date":"2012-02-21T13:38:58","date_gmt":"2012-02-21T20:38:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/sustainability\/blog\/?p=1958"},"modified":"2012-02-21T13:38:58","modified_gmt":"2012-02-21T20:38:58","slug":"recycling-is-hiring-students-to-join-our-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/2012\/02\/21\/recycling-is-hiring-students-to-join-our-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Recycling is hiring students to join our team!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure style=\"width: 420px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"our staff\" src=\"http:\/\/recycle.oregonstate.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/student-staff.jpg\" alt=\"Join our team!\" width=\"420\" height=\"181\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Join our recycling\/surplus team!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>OSU Campus Recycling and Surplus Property are currently hiring student employees to start as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sorting and pricing surplus<\/li>\n<li>Recycling route pick-ups with state vehicles<\/li>\n<li>Posting products online on Ebay and LabX<\/li>\n<li>Surplus billing and shipping<\/li>\n<li>Other warehouse activities associated with surplus and recycling<\/li>\n<li>Loading trucks and lifting<\/li>\n<li>Working in a warehouse environment where weather and temperatures can vary<\/li>\n<li>Working up to 20 hours per week, on weekdays. Full time work is available during breaks and summer term.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong>: Business Services Operations support  the sustainability objectives of OSU.\u00a0 The staff and students work with  departments to assure that OSU is a leader in reuse and recycling.  \u00a0This requires:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A commitment to recycling.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent customer service.<\/li>\n<li>Attention to detail and following instructions is important to meet our customer expectations.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to learn to drive a fork lift.<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to safely move 50 lbs. and use material handling equipment.\u00a0 Safety is important for all workers.<\/li>\n<li>Must be enrolled in OSU or LBCC for a minimum of 6 credit hours.<\/li>\n<li>Must have a valid Driver\u2019s license and meet OSU vehicle requirements.<\/li>\n<li>A background check will be processed for all potential hires.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Start Date:<\/strong> ASAP<\/p>\n<p><strong>Starting Wage:<\/strong> $8.80 hr<\/p>\n<h3>How to Apply<\/h3>\n<p>Come to the Property Services Building at 644 SW 13th Street and drop off (c\/o Pete Lepre):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A resume<\/li>\n<li>A Business Services student application packet (paper copies are available at our building or you can <a title=\"Click to open a PDF of the student application packet\" href=\"http:\/\/recycle.oregonstate.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/resources\/student_employee_application_packet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">download the application packet here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OSU Campus Recycling and Surplus Property are currently hiring student employees to start as soon as possible.
