<a href=\"https:\/\/osucascades.edu\/studentlife\">OSU-Cascades Office of Student Life<\/a> on earning the gold-level Green Office Certification!<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sustainability Office has been working with the Office of Student Life on Cascades campus to make their office space more sustainable, and they&#8217;ve made some awesome progress!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div include:<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ensuring that all electronic devices are turned off after 1 hour of activity;<\/li><li>Always wearing layered clothing to adapt to office temperatures, to avoid frequent changes to the thermostat;<\/li><li>Checking <a href=\"https:\/\/surplus.oregonstate.edu\/\">OSU Surplus<\/a> for needed office supplies before purchasing new ones, and disposing of unwanted furniture and supplies there;<\/li><li>Creating a designated supply closet for the sharing and reuse of office supplies;<\/li><li>Purchasing copy paper with 100% post-consumer waste content;<\/li><li>Providing adequate and secure indoor bike parking available for employees to encourage more bike travel;<\/li><li>Training all employees in Diversity, Equity and offices<\/a> that have received a certification so far! We can\u2019t wait to see how they plan to improve their score and go for platinum!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">About the Certification:<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fa.oregonstate.edu\/sustainability\/planning-policy-assessment\/green-office-certification\">The Green Office Certification<\/a> is a simple yet effective way for OSU faculty and staff to further their sustainability efforts and get recognition for their work. It is also intended to provide new ideas for easy steps your office can take to reduce your environmental footprint and carbon emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It takes the shape of an online survey that assesses current office practices under five categories: Utilities, Waste Management, Office Purchasing, Transportation and Travel, and Outreach, Engagement, and Professional Development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-heading\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-luminous-vivid-orange-color\">Possible Certification Levels:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Copper (50-59%)<\/li><li>Silver (60-69%)<\/li><li>Gold (70-79%)<\/li><li>Platinum (80+%)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t work in an office but are still interested in \u2018greening\u2019 your space? Following the Willamette Valley Treaty of 1855, Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to reservations in Western Oregon.
