{"id":10490,"date":"2018-05-07T12:05:53","date_gmt":"2018-05-07T19:05:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/?p=10490"},"modified":"2018-07-16T10:38:20","modified_gmt":"2018-07-16T17:38:20","slug":"community-dialogue-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/ecologue\/2018\/05\/07\/community-dialogue-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"Community Dialogue Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last Monday, Oregon State students and community members gathered to discuss the options within the Corvallis community to reduce\/prevent crime, as well as ethical ways that we can\u00a0rehabilitate people who have committed crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Jack Hobbes, a junior in Environmental Economics and Policy, was a conversation facilitator. After lots of conversation, Hobbes came away with a strong feeling that as a community we have a strong drive to do what is right, yet we are limited by systematic and institutional roadblocks that lead us in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n<p>Hobbes said that the Community Dialogue was an amazing way to connect with community and staff members on a unique level about these issues and that the whole group was able to learn a lot.
