Amanda Keener earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Portland State University, where she wrote for the Arts and Culture section of the Vanguard newspaper, and participated in wildlife conservation grant writing. Prior to continuing her education, she was a Corps Member in AmeriCorps NCCC, during which she led community and field restoration projects throughout the East and Gulf coasts.
