College degree or Codecademy?

Recently, I bought a membership with Codecademy to strengthen my programming skills in python. I started the Python 3 skills course which consists of a lot of the basics that we have learned within previous courses. So far I am pretty impressed with the structure of the lessons and projects. As well as how organized they have made it. It’s well organized and easy to follow. Even though I do have prior experience in python through the bachelors program at Oregon State. I find the way that Codecademy presents the material is easier to retain.

So it really brings the question if is it worth getting a college degree in computer science if you can learn basically everything from Codecademy for a fraction of the price. Well if you are only learning the material to gain the skill that just Codecademy would be the route to take. But if you’re trying todo a career change within a big company than I would still suggest the college degree but also use Codecamdey as a tool to strengthen your skills.
