Hello, my name is Terrence Dominguez-Smith I live in Seattle, WA with my dog and wife. I work as a Configuration Management Integration Engineer at a large aircraft manufacturing company and have a bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering from California State University of Long Beach. Outside of work and school I like to play sports and have recently have gained a lot of interest in Formula 1 racing.
So why did I get started in Computer Science? Well it all started when I was a teenager. I used to play this online massive multiplayer 2d space game where you could team up and attack other teams from people all over the world in real-time. This game contained different zones with different aspects to the type of game you are playing. What started to gauge my interest in programming was when these zones started to develop bots to help run the zones or events. I thought it was so great that someone could make something so well developed to help progress the game forward. From then on I’ve always wanted to learn to make bots for these zones and become a developer.
However, when it was time for college I ended up choosing Aerospace Engineering as my major. But have always had the urge to learn Computer Programming. Now looking back I should have just went with Computer Science from the beginning. I have always known Computer Science was the future and have seen how far it has advanced from the beginning of internet web pages, to online businesses and then the development of smart phones.
What I want to do with the skills that I have learned from the Computer Science program at Oregon State University is to finally complete the handful of projects that I have always had the idea of building. I have always been one of those head in the clouds type of guys with the “This would be a great app” or “Someone should make a tool for that”. And over the past few years I have narrowed down my hundreds of app ideas into 3 specific apps that I would really want to try and tackle this year. With hopes of them being very successful and if nothing comes from it then at least I have obtained the experience working on those specific projects. I don’t want to share my 3 app ideas just in case someone were to steal the idea away. But, ultimately I want to become well versed in Computer Programming to essentially tackle any project or idea that may come to me. I also want to build a website to help teach python programming to new comers in a simple and easy to follow manner.
So in short I have a lot of ideas and I want to become well experienced in programming so that I could both be successful in creating any project or resolve any issue that I come across as well as teach new comers through a website that helps them walk through problems in a simple and easy to follow manner.
Thank you,
