However, I have also encountered training where no preparation was given, and I had no mentor. As discussed in the reading a company’s missions should remain the same. This way it can focus on future generations of employees when it comes to training. Additionally, the only thing that should change is the company’s strategies. This is the most effective way to achieve the company’s missions while changing to the business climate.

Furthermore, what made my training most effective as mentioned was how efficient, productive, and interesting it was. I had my trainee nearby at all times in case I had questions or needed clarification on tasks. They kept me productive by allowing me to be more hands on learning. Which I found most beneficial since this was mentioned during the interview on how I learn best. That itself made me feel like I was being acknowledged by my team. Lastly, they kept things interesting by giving me last minute changes on memos, scheduling current meetings, or creating a spreadsheet for future data. They overall kept me intrigued and wanting to learn more which ultimately made me stay with the company for years.

Ultimately, I have also experienced training programs that have not been the most beneficial. This occurred simply because the team was not prepared, and had little to no information as to what I was supposed to be doing. Prior to my arrival to training I was informed by the manager someone would be with me at all times. This was needed because everything was hands on and required supervision. Additionally, when my trainee never showed up, nobody could tell me what I could do in the meanwhile. So I sat for nearly an hour before I was told to go home because nobody could train me. At that moment I felt defeated and as if I just wasted my time.

Additionally, as a company when it comes to hiring it is important to identify the most effective way to achieve a training program. This could be the make or break when it comes to an employee deciding if the company is worth staying.

Libguides: Ebooks at OSU libraries: Ebook central.
