Almost exactly two years ago I sat on a desk my fiancee gifted me to get work done as I transitioned into being a student again. I opened up my browser, went to canvas to get information on my new classes, and the rest is history. In those two years, I’ve worked hard and smart to learn as much as I could to prepare myself to become the best software engineer I can be. After many long days, times of frustration, and many small wins later, I’m in my final quarter at Oregon State and ready to take on the machine learning world as I start as a full-time machine engineer this summer.
After a successful internship experience, I received a full-time offer to return once I graduated. Although this position has been a dream since I decided to transition, I still feel nervous about the increased expectations. I feel grateful for the problem-solving and troubleshooting skills that I developed during my time at Oregon State. Throughout my time in the summer internship, I was constantly challenged to think outside the box and create solutions that had not previously existed.
In my final quarter as a student, I’m still hungry to continually develop my software development skills with my team. Although our project is undecided, I look forward to writing about my learning throughout the quarter!
