Fortune 100 Best Companies

Hilton is a well known hospitality conglomerate that serves customers internationally looking for a place to stay. So it has to be a nightmare to work for, right? Not according to it’s employee’s. Multiple employee’s report that working at Hilton feels like a family, and they don’t feel like a “number” there. What this tells me is that Hilton puts a great emphasis on making a comfortable and inclusive work environment for all of their employee’s. I can imagine that the manager’s are carefully selected because of their personability and their outstanding customer service. When you are able to treat your peers and employee’s with respect, you can be confident that your customers will be treated the same.

Cisco is also a well known company who specialize in food delivery and supply chain management. I actually know a couple of people who have worked for Cisco for years, both of whom did not graduate college and were given the opportunity to work their way up the Cisco ladder. From what they have told me, they were given every opportunity to work hard and create a better living and position for themselves within the company. With competitive pay and great benefits, these individuals have made a comfortable living for themselves with ample opportunities for growth without having to spend tens of thousands of dollars to earn a degree. As most of us know, college is not for everyone. Companies like these that give you the opportunity to get your foot in the door and prove that you are willing and able to learn and work hard shouldn’t be as hard to find as they are. This company is a great example of equal opportunity for everybody who has the work ethic and desire to create opportunities for themselves.

American Express is a banking and credit card company that is very well known internationally. Employee’s report that work life balance is put at a premium. When you work somewhere and you are not necessarily doing what you love, and even if you are doing what you love, nobody wants their entire life to be centered around work. Especially in this generation of “hustle culture” it is almost frowned upon to be taking time off of work and not giving your everything to your career. But I’ve had a lot of employers bat an eye when I ask to use my PTO or sick time, creating pressure not to use what I have earned. At the end of the day, your PTO and sick time is there to be used and when you work for a company that encourages you to take advantage of the time that you have earned to do things that you want, it creates a much better working environment because you don’t feel trapped in the cycle that is earning a living.
