Good HRM = Successful Business

I am a firm believer in order to have a successful and prospering business, you must have good HR practices and policies in place, in an equitable manner. After reviewing Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For, 2022, I have selected three companies which I am interested in working in the near future. My three selected organizations all vary in ranking from Hilton being #1, Adobe Systems Incorporated at #35, and Recreational Equipment, INC(REI), at #60. For all three, I have been a consumer in, and hope to one day become an employee.

Hilton Worldwide CEO and Team Members Kick Off Second...

The First organization is Hilton, a hospitality company that is ranked number 1 in 2020. I chose this hotel because of its quality services time and time again with every one of my stays. Employee’s at Hilton really feel at ease, and often refer to “not a number” because of the care they are shown. This is in my opinion, one of the most important factors of management practices, which in this case could be from servant leadership since they have been to referred as a “family organization”. Hilton offers generous compensation packages that include competitive and lucrative benefits available to all employee’s. Benefits and the team-orientated practices is what has made Hilton the top of the list. In a more recent list, Hilton ranks #2 in 2022.

The following is Adobe Systems Inc, a software I have recently acquired and now use for my soft business. I am not sure in what specialty I’d hope to work for Adobe one day, but I know their development team and creative teams are very interactive and progressive focuses. Meaning, they are innovative. What Adobe is very well known for, is keeping their promises with their employee’s. With internal practices that mirror open door ideas, I hope to become involved in such a company with balance.

The final organization, which is my favorite, is REI! Before reviewing Fortune’s 100 List, I had heard of the amazing and unique benefits. My biggest takeaway, and yours should too about REI is their priority of purpose over profit. Per employees, there is a lot of passion in the organization in the environment, and always doing the right thing. They can see through the blinds, and know taking care of their employee’s is their biggest driver of success. Because of this passion, there is a great deal of brand loyalty internally, and outside the company even after the employee leaves. A unique benefit offer by REI is their retirement 5% of earnings contribution for every eligible employee, regardless if you sign up for a savings plan. My biggest takeaway from this organization is their work/life balance. They encourage to take your time off, and sometimes fund it! Go outside, since it is their brands vision.

From all three companies, from the behaviors internally of the company and benefits offered, I really hope to become a manager that is considerate, a part of an organization that puts an emphasis on the well being of its employees. I have seen the negative sides of authoritative leadership styles and practices that is inconsiderate of its decisions. I wish to deter away from that and become open to my subordinates, in a way where we can all learn and benefit from each other. It is these HRM management practices that drive long-term success of the company.
