After researching the average pay for a position of this sort, it usually ranges from $51,000 to $57,000. Since I am a recent college graduate I believe that this might be quite a lot for starting pay in this position. So being on the lower end of the range, $50,000, seems to be a reasonable wage for this time in my life. Jobs in sports never pay much, especially entry-level positions. However, my experience and passion for already working in sports, I believe supports the stated wage. I started off working in several different roles as an intern for the Portland Pickles Baseball Club and I also work for Oregon State Baseball as a Video and Analytics Intern. I have only worked in Baseball for a short amount of time which is why I don’t think the higher end of the range is reasonable. However, in that short amount of time, I have worked my hardest to advance my knowledge of the game and dedicate all my time and effort to excel in my position. In turn, this has created a passion that has helped me determine that working in sports and baseball specifically is what I want to do for the rest of my life. These positions have also taught me the necessary skills needed to be successful as a player development coordinator. Some of those skills include developing schedules, keeping track of player performance, and creating reports on player abilities and well-being. Positions like these also take years of experience and development to excel at and would benefit for someone willing to be in the position for a long period of time so that as the organization develops and grows there is someone who can guide that growth and help guide it in the direction people want it to go. That is why hiring someone who is young and is willing to learn and grow with the role can help take it to the next level.

Director of player development salary | comparably.
