Job Application Experiences

The last job I applied for was an accounting job for the state. I was able to apply because I signed up for notifications on any open jobs they had and I made sure to apply for a few that I was qualified for. I was able to secure an interview with one of the jobs I applied for and it will take place next week. Considering the fact that I had less than a few months until I get out of school, I hoped they would wait for me to fully start if things went well in our interview.

My impression of the state when I applied was a good one. I have heard great things about working for the state. I know there was stability and room for opportunities. Also, the culture wasn’t super competitive, unlike other places. Those were the qualities I was looking for in any workplace.

  1. Daisy,

Great job being proactive and finding ways to get interviews before you are out of school. Im glad that you were able to find areas that you really like in a job and also those that you don’t like. I feel like being able to know what you want in a job and what you don’t is really important when searching for jobs. For me, I would rather work in a job where I appreciate the aspects and love what I do then work for a job that I don’t like that makes more money. Applying for jobs is a scary process and it seems like you would really enjoy working for the state. Nice work!
