{"id":177,"date":"2017-02-22T23:57:01","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T23:57:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/dairy\/?p=177"},"modified":"2017-02-22T23:57:01","modified_gmt":"2017-02-22T23:57:01","slug":"forage-management-class-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/dairy\/2017\/02\/22\/forage-management-class-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Forage Management Class Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>OSU Forage Management Series<\/u><\/strong> (Five parts)<\/p>\n<p>Each part consists of an evening <em>classroom<\/em> presentation at the Oldfield Animal Teaching Facility on the OSU campus, followed by a morning <em>field<\/em> practical at a local outdoor location.<\/p>\n<p>Class meets Wednesdays (6 \u2013 8:30 pm) and Thursdays (10 \u2013 noon). Topics for each month are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>April 19 &amp; 20 \u2013 Farm and Forage Assessment<\/li>\n<li>May 24 &amp; 25 \u2013 Harvest Management<\/li>\n<li>June 28 &amp; 29 \u2013 Irrigation<\/li>\n<li>August 16 and 17 \u2013 Fertility<\/li>\n<li>September 20 and 21 \u2013 Renovation Techniques<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pre-registration and a $30 fee per part (or a discounted price of $120 for five) <em>per ranch<\/em> is required. Registration coming soon at <a href=\"http:\/\/extension.oregonstate.edu\/linn\/\">http:\/\/extension.oregonstate.edu\/linn\/<\/a>. If you do not have Internet access, stop by or call the Linn Co. (541-967-3871) or Benton Co. (541-766-6750)\u00a0 OSU Extension Offices for instructions.<\/p>\n<p>Speakers will be Shelby Filley, David Hannaway, Serkan Ates, Gene Pirelli, and Troy Downing, plus other OSU faculty and local experts.<\/p>\n<p>This series will focus on a \u201cproject ranch\u201d that we work on together, including site visits and on-line document sharing and blog. The project ranch will be the Wilson Farm, the OSU sheep facility with sheep and cattle grazing the pastures. You can also work on your own ranch as a side project if desired.
