This is a <strong>general public health internship position<\/strong>, offering broad exposure to multiple areas of public health, including environmental health, community health promotion, data analysis, and public communication. Interns will work alongside public health staff and contribute to projects that support the health and well-being of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This position <strong>may be hybrid or fully remote<\/strong>. While we would love to have an intern working on-site, we understand how remote our area is and welcome applicants who need or prefer remote work arrangements. Some in-person participation may be encouraged if feasible, but is not required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Responsibilities may include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assisting with general public health program activities and community outreach.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting environmental health tasks (data entry, research, educational materials, and inspection assistance if on-site).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conducting data collection, entry, and analysis for public health initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting community health promotion, communications, and social media outreach.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drafting or developing public health educational materials or reports.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attending department meetings and contributing to ongoing projects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completing other public health-related duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Schedule \/ Hours:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Approximately <strong>160 &#8211;<\/strong> <strong>360 hours<\/strong> completed over a <strong>10-week term<\/strong>. Flexible scheduling depends on program needs and intern availability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Current enrollment as an <strong>undergraduate or graduate student<\/strong> in Public Health or a related field consistent with H539 or H439 internship requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace; include other systems if needed).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated problem-solving skills, adaptability, and initiative.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work respectfully with diverse populations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Must pass a background check<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to travel locally for field work if on-site (not required for remote interns).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with public speaking, community engagement, or customer service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leadership experience or experience coordinating projects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with general public health principles, environmental health, or health education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested applicants should submit the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Resume<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cover Letter describing interest in a general public health internship and relevant experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Submit applications to:<\/strong><br><em>Chastity Anderson<\/em><br><em>Administrator\/Director<\/em><br><em>canderson@bakercountyor.gov<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Deadline:&nbsp; December 1, 2025 for Winter term internship<\/strong><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selected applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Remote or Hybrid Opportunity with Baker County Public Health &#8212; great exposure to rural public health.
