More post-graduation plans

June 6th, 2011

The Class of 2011 will finish academic requirements this week. The last issue of the Vet Gazette highlighted some future plans; this issue provides the rest that were reported. We wish them the best and congratulate them for their accomplishments!

Jenny Mitchell: I will be doing a small animal emergency internship at Dove Lewis in Portland.

Deborah Peale: I am currently looking for a job in small animal general practice in the Pacific Northwest.

Alexia Nogueira: I got a job in a small animal practice in coastal North Carolina.

Lane Martin: Will start work at Inglemoor Animal Hospital in Kenmore, Wash., in late July. Will spend June and July trying to find a place to live near my new job and planning my wedding to Dr. Kim Villines, currently slated for some time in 2012.

Jessika Lais: My post-graduation plans are to backpack around the San Juan Islands with my boyfriend, Dustin. Then I will be starting work at a small animal/exotics practice in Coos Bay, Ore. I plan to volunteer for the feral cat coalition, local shelters, join world vets, continue with the IVSA Nicaragua trips and volunteer at local schools to educate kids about animal care and how to become a veterinarian.

Mika Straub: I will be heading home to North Pole, Alaska, where I will be working with small animal and equine through the North Pole Veterinary Hospital. My future includes volunteering with the Moose Creek Fire Department and next spring I plan on adopting a Wild Indian Horse at the Wildhorse Clinic in Simnasho, Ore.

Don Judson: Hope to work in a small animal practice, and eventually in an emergency practice. I’m looking forward to being more involved as a parent and husband.
