In May of this year, the group visited Sweden and Finland to learn about social license for forestry, and advances through the integration of digitization and artificial intelligence into assessment, harvest and supply chain practices. In Sweden, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.skogforsk.se\/\" target=\"_blank\">Skogforsk<\/a>, the Forestry Research Institute of Sweden,&nbsp;and the forest owners&#8217; association&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mellanskog.se\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mellanskog<\/a> hosted the group. In Finland, Dr. Ritva Toivonen, Dean of Agriculture and Forestry at the University of Helsinki, hosted the group at her family forest\/farm, and she and faculty members joined the group in a visit to the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.metsagroup.com\/metsafibre\/about-metsafibre\/pulp-production\/new-kemi-bioproduct-mill\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mets\u00e4 Bioproducts Mill<\/a>&nbsp;at \u00c4\u00e4nekoski, the largest wood processing plant in the Northern Hemisphere, to learn about its energy generation and sidestream product development. The tour culminated with informational presentations from <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/forestry.trimble.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Trimble<\/a>, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ponsse.com\" target=\"_blank\">Ponsse<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.collectivecrunch.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Collective Crunch<\/a>, all companies working to integrate digitization into forestry practice and carbon assessment for greater accuracy and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trip was organized and run by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forestry.oregonstate.edu\/international\">College of Forestry International Programs<\/a> office.
