The First Post

Hello everyone, and welcome to the first post of what I’m sure will be a meandering but meaningful adventure.

I am currently attending Oregon State University online, working towards a Bachelors in Computer Science. I also work full-time as a Software Engineer at a local internet service provider and have a loving wife and two incredibly adorable kids.

I am attending my final class (Capstone Project) before attaining my degree and I couldn’t be more excited. I have honestly really enjoyed my experience in the program. I have learned a huge amount and have been inspired to continue my journey in exploring all manners of topics in this field. Mainly though, I am looking forward to putting the pedal to the metal and start diving it head first on some “real-life” projects.

The projects I am most interesting in completing for my capstone project tend to mirror the fields that I am most interested in (I should hope so). These were some of the ones I was most interested in participating in:

• AI Coder
  • Fully lean on existing AI tools to plan and develop a web project from scratch, documenting your progress along the way.
• Algorithmic Stock Market Trading Strategies
  • Build a data pipeline for developing, testing, and deploying algorithmic trading strategies.
• Website Security Research Project
  • Build a vulnerable web project and harden it, documenting the steps and progress along the way.
    

I am really looking forward to working on one of these exiting projects to add a capstone (pun intended) to my resume, learn a whole lot, and to be able to work alongside a great team while doing it.
