Thanks for coming by my blog and I’m happy that I have a place to share with you my experiences and thoughts at OSU.

When I was much younger, I wanted to work in fashion. I was fascinated by all the fabulous things in that world. So when I graduated from college, I ended up working in retail, although not high-end fashion, it was close. The pay was not desirable, but I had this passion and thought this could be my lifelong career. After a few years working in the industry, I started wanting to try out something different, something more meaningful. But making a career switch was never easy. I had zero knowledge in coding and had never learnt anything related in the past. I was terrified at learning more math. No one had thought I could come this far, not even myself. My parents were not happy about me leaving my old job and became a full time student again. I had to support myself and in the meantime work as hard as I could to prove that this was not a bad decision.

In 2020, I started my first term at OSU. That’s the time when pandemic just happened. Things were changing and life became different. I would say it was definitely a challenge for me at first. I was also nervous about if this program was right for me and whether I would succeed. I decided to take one class at the time and just to see how I feel about it. CS 161 was easy but CS 162 was more stressful. I remembered I cried a few times at the final project, we were asked to design a board game and I just felt so hard. But I made it. And I survived CS 325 and CS 344. Never cried ever since for a single assignment or exam.

Now here I am, just one step away from the finish line. I think I made the right choice. Now here I am, just one step away from the finish line. I think I made the right decision in submitting that application to attend the program. I learnt a great deal from doing this program, not just technical skills, more is that I finally become more confident in myself. I overcame my weakness of being afraid of challenging myself, worried about the outcome and reluctant to even take a stab at it. I was afraid that I would not be good at what I do and there is always new language, framework etc I need to catch up. Indeed, there are so many smart people in the field, but I do not have to chase them. I can just be me. All it matters is that I keep learning and honing my skills. Stay positive and be passionate about what I do. As a matter of fact, I like challenges and I’m always curious about new things. Being in an ever-changing field could be a good fit for me. I also think that the fulfillment of building something up from scratch is great. Maybe one day the product I make could help numerous people.

In short, this will be everyone’s last term at OSU and we should enjoy it while studying hard!

Hello to whoever is reading this!
