{"id":167,"date":"2018-05-11T21:04:02","date_gmt":"2018-05-11T21:04:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/coarcplantpathology\/?p=167"},"modified":"2019-05-06T20:23:26","modified_gmt":"2019-05-06T20:23:26","slug":"ergot-degree-day-model-lower-columbia-basin-update-may-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/coarecplantpathology\/2018\/05\/11\/ergot-degree-day-model-lower-columbia-basin-update-may-11\/","title":{"rendered":"2018 Ergot Degree-Day Model for the Lower Columbia Basin UPDATE: May 11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A predictive model for ergot ascospores was recently developed for the Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>The model uses accumulated degree-days (beginning January 1, with a base temperature of 50\u00b0F and upper threshold temperature of 77\u00b0F) to forecast when ascospores are likely to be present.<\/p>\n<p><strong>According to the model, most ascospores are produced in the Lower Columbia Basin when accumulated degree-days are between 414 and 727.<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/coarecplantpathology\/files\/2018\/05\/Untitled-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-170 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/coarecplantpathology\/files\/2018\/05\/Untitled-1-300x178.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"178\" srcset=\"https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/3233\/files\/2018\/05\/Untitled-1-300x178.jpg 300w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/3233\/files\/2018\/05\/Untitled-1.jpg 528w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><strong>Accumulated degree-days as of May 10 were 387 in Hermiston, OR (black solid line). <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>At this time in 2017, accumulated degree-days were 302 (orange dotted line).
