Resolved Issues

  • Upon arrival, 51 of 76 hosts were able to get online, the remainder have been resolved.
  • Michael Green’s port was documented but didn’t get flipped and was first to get resolved through Telecom.
  • A number of misconfigured ports were addressed with Telecom.
  • 8 printers weren’t online and were resolved by either rebooting, fixing network ports, or reconfiguring printers (switching from BOOTP to DHCP).
  • Various adjustments were made to user permissions on printers.
  • The TSS printer deployment GPO was initially pulled since users had unified accounts but we discovered some general-use and regular users who hadn’t been unified so the GPO was reinstated.
  • The whereabouts of the Ricoh 201 was unknown until after the migration and was reinstated via Group Policy for the folks that use it.
  • Jon Bickler had a hard-coded IP and was set back to DHCP.
  • CN-Lites had to be moved in Cyder. Additionally, the HP 4250 they print to had to be updated on cnlite1 & 2. Finally, cnlite1 & 2 had to be added to the firewall to allow printing.
  • Folks who RDP into ECSI were unable to print to their new print queues. One of the employees identified a workaround.
  • Connectivity to the security cams in the Cashier’s Office broke, Rich Giesige resolved this by updating some firewall rules.

Unresolved Issues

  • Max Schmidt is verifying printing from CN-Lite.
  • More details needs to be gathered about the workaround for ECSI printing.

New Core Migration: Multiple Departments

The following departments have been moved to new core:

Enrollment Management (Kerr + Snell)
Institutional Research
Undergraduate Studies

Cyder/IP change
All workstations and printers…
Moved from: Multiple zones (10.192.98.XXX)
Moved to: zone.cn_studentadmin (10.214.18.56 – 10.214.19.253)

Printer change
Old IP printers were removed from workstations and replaced with new print queues:

Printer address: \\iscs-printq\KAd-500-Ricoh-MP-2851
Printer IP: 10.214.18.229
Printer driver: PCL6 Universal v4.6
Security group: CN_Printers_KAd 500 Ricoh MP 2851

Note: All three departments share this printer. I have the owner listed as Enrollment management.

TSS GPO: Printer Deployment – Enrollment Management

Resolved Issues

  • DIRKSB-OP755 (00:21:9b:81:ef:bd) was documented in the initial walk-through and migrated but the machine was actually moved to Waldo with Academic Programs. This was moved back in Cyder to zone.asc (128.193.18.95 – 128.193.18.253). I contacted the customer but they were unavailable.
  • CSL-46-OP780 (b8:ac:6f:9e:a9:96) appeared to be an old registration and was deleted from Cyder but turned out to be a loaner computer for Salvador Castillo while his current computer is at the build bench. Max Schmidt was able to get this registered in Cyder. Additionally, I added his loaner IP address to the IR-SQL firewall rule so he still has access to the server.

Unresolved Issues

None.

New Core Migration: Registrar’s Office

Better late than never here…the Registrar’s Office was moved to new core on September 23rd.

Cyder/IP change
All workstations and printers…
Moved from: zone.registrar (10.128.154.5 – 10.128.154.252)
Moved to: zone.cn_studentadmin (10.214.18.56 – 10.214.19.253)

Printer change
Old IP printers were removed from workstations and replaced with new print queues:

Security group: CN_Printers_KAd 102 HP LaserJet M401DNE

ONID GPO: TSS – Printer Deployment – Registrar’s Office
TSS GPO: Printer Deployment – Registrar’s Office

Resolved Issues

  • The following computers in Institutional Research were improperly registered in zone.registrar and were moved on accident:
    • CastillS-OP980 – I moved this back the same morning
    • lplagman-IBT510 – I moved this back the same morning
    • VICKERSB-OP7010 – Port actually got flipped and the user was functioning, left alone.
  • IP printers didn’t get removed right at 8am. I created a package in SCCM and deployed it shortly after which succeeded on 34/36 machines.
  • Kiosk machines didn’t get documented in the initial walk-through. Robin had Telecom flip the ports.
  • Rick DeBellis couldn’t print because he’s actually in the Enrollment Management department. I added him to the printer security group and added the printer GPO to his department’s users OU.
  • Transcript printer needed to be added to Banner (KAd-102-Right-Ricoh-MP-3351).

Unresolved Issues

  • Numerous student workers were logging in with ONID accounts and couldn’t print. The current method of delivering print queue printers doesn’t allow for this and the expectation is that student workers have CN student accounts. This isn’t ideal for departments with high turnover and many students so a solution is being worked out.
  • A request was made to change the name of KAd-102-HP-Laserjet-M401DNE to KAd-102-Front-HP-Laserjet-M401DNE.

New Core Migration: AABC

AABC was migrated to the new core last night.

Moved to: zone.cn_univadmin (10.160.82.20 – 10.160.82.126)

Printer change
Old IP printers were removed from workstations and replaced with new print queues:

Printer IP: 10.160.82.56
Printer driver: PCL6 Universal v4.6
Security group: CN_Printers_Pol 119 Ricoh MP 2851

ONID GPO: TSS – Printer Deployment – AABC
TSS GPO: Printer Deployment – AABC

Resolved Issues

  • The printer in 119 didn’t get documented in the initial walk-through, was hard-coded and wasn’t registered in Cyder with the correct Mac address.
  • There was one user with a converged account who wasn’t getting printers (onid\kellshan) because the GPO wasn’t applied to onid.oregonstate.edu/onid/_tss/Auxiliaries and Activities Business Center.
  • Marcia Ward was getting printers but couldn’t print. Turns out she could print to the Ricohs but not the HP because Robin had just restarted it.

Unresolved Issues
When moving ports Tim identified another occupant, Student Affairs. I will follow up with them and get them scheduled to move over to new core.

New Core Migration: General Counsel

The Office of the General Counsel was migrated to the new core last night.

Cyder/IP change
All workstations and printers…
Moved from: zone.ads-fn (Multiple ranges)
Moved to: zone.cn_univadmin (10.160.120.150 – 10.160.123.253)

Printer change
Old IP printers were removed from workstations and replaced with new print queues:

Printer address: \\iscs-printq\KAd-524E-HP-LaserJet-5
Printer IP: 10.160.120.198
Printer driver: HP Universal Printing PCL 6 (v6.0.0)

Security group: CN_Printers_KAd 524E Ricoh MP 3351

ONID GPO: TSS – Printer Deployment – Office of the General Counsel
TSS GPO: Printer Deployment – Office of the General Counsel

Resolved Issues

  • The Worldox indexer machine (named GIDDENSB-OP780) wasn’t documented in the original port mapping so the port didn’t get moved over. I dual-registered the box so it didn’t lose connectivity and Robin had Telecom move it over to VLAN 1100.
  • Terry Meehan’s VoIP phone was documented in the original port mapping but accidentally got moved over. Robin had Telecom move it back.
  • Some customers attempted to RDP into their machines late last night and were unable to which is expected behavior.

Unresolved Issues
None
