{"id":8,"date":"2021-12-05T00:13:26","date_gmt":"2021-12-05T00:13:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/classroommanagement\/?p=8"},"modified":"2021-12-05T22:07:03","modified_gmt":"2021-12-05T22:07:03","slug":"classroom-rules-and-procedures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/classroommanagement\/2021\/12\/05\/classroom-rules-and-procedures\/","title":{"rendered":"Classroom Rules and Procedures"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I actually like to try and create house\/class rules with the class on day one, so I ask the class for rules that they&#8217;d like to abide by and always reserve one more rule that I can add at the end, just to make sure I can add an important rule I feel is missing.\u00a0 I find that if the class helps set the rules, they have buy in and tend to obey them and hold others accountable to them because they&#8217;ve helped set the rules.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I would opefully have at least five rules I&#8217;d like my class to follow are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Respect and listen to&nbsp;<strong>everyone&nbsp;<\/strong>in class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) Be inquisitive &amp; ask questions, no matter what.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) Be prepared for class<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4) Learn and have fun<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5) Work hard and create work you are proud of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I like to post the procedures, using a flip chart in the front of the class or if the class is virtual, I will e-mail them out.  Additionally, if I&#8217;m teaching younger children I like to send the rules out to the parents, too.
