Everything came through! My teammates and project are both as requested, with the addition of a fourth teammate who fits in already. Our project is called Farm Match, and we are hoping to mitigate some of the difficulties farmers are having finding seasonal workers.
Jim (the project leader) was explaining that harvest season is becoming less consistent year to year, and farmers are having an increasingly difficult time scheduling work for seasonal employees. One potential solution is to leverage the “gig work” culture to create a farmer-worker connection application that grants both farmers and workers more flexibility.
I’m excited to get moving and it seems like Jim is ready to move as well. We had our first meeting and after passing some silences back and forth, eventually got on the same page regarding the status of the idea. Jim is going to sketch out his vision of what the site might look like and the kind of data that he thinks both the farms and the workers will need. Once we have that information in hand, we should be ready to start moving on getting the site set up!
