The process of peer reviewing a scientific paper is done in order to ensure that a paper is credible and understandable. A lot of peer review is done in order to ensure a paper uses credible data and sources to back up its claims. If a persons claims are unfounded and the sources that are used are not credible the peer review tries to catch these mistakes before a scientific paper is released to the public. It is important that claims in scientific papers have the proper research and backing so that false information isn’t given to the public. The cons of peer reviews is influence or bias that could be exerted over the article by the reviewer. Also if the person that is reviewing the article doesn’t fully understand the topic they might not be able to fully ensure that the information presented is correct. However, it is more important that a paper is at least reviewed to try to catch any errors that could be present.
