The most interesting and surprising things I have learned about microbial influence on human health are the correlation of dysbiosis and diseases. I think the correlation of IBD, obesity and other negative health outcomes with dysbiosis is a big area of health that needs to be studied more. I also think it is so interesting how hard it is to determine correlation and causation when it comes to microbial influence on human health. I also think the factors that affect the microbiomes, like antibiotics, are super interesting.
Dysbiosis and diseases have been seen to have some correlation and effect on overall human health. However, they must be investigated further. Correlation and causation is a large factor in the reason why it is so hard to know if dysbiosis causes negative health outcomes or if negative health outcomes cause dysbiosis. IBD, obesity and other negative health outcomes are a further area of study that could lead to new developments on the effects of microbiomes.
I think I might begin investigating factors such as the correlation between dysbiosis and diseases. I think it would be interesting to look into if there has been any causality found between the two or if it has still yet to be determined.
