Throughout this class, I’ve gained invaluable experience in teamwork. I’ve honed my ability to collaborate effectively with team members, developed the skill of crafting functional code, and seamlessly integrating various components.  This class has given me ideas to start on my own side projects and keep a similar track of my progress.

Strengths: This class has pushed me beyond my comfort zone, igniting excitement to create meaningful projects for a positive impact.

Weaknesses: Projects ideally require groups of 2-3 people, and I believe additional training or support specific to project requirements would be beneficial.

Opportunities: Access to previous project examples and real-life case studies could greatly enhance learning and understanding.

Threats: No apparent threats; this class serves as an excellent starting point to learn teamwork and develop a strategic approach to projects.

One of my most valuable technologies in AI is ChatGPT, the AI I rely on for various aspects of my work. It serves as a great tool whenever I find myself needing explanations in a way that a 5-year-old would understand. As someone who tends to overthink things, ChatGPT often steps in to simplify complex concepts. Of course, there are occasions when ChatGPT might not provide the perfect answer, but the assistance it offers is consistently valuable.

While I wouldn’t go so far as to claim that ChatGPT has miraculously transformed me into a coding prodigy, it has undeniably played a significant role in enhancing my abilities and productivity as a programmer. In our line of work, we’re well acquainted with the title of ‘professional googlers,’ as we frequently turn to online resources for answers. However, the integration of AI, particularly ChatGPT, has proven to be a game-changer when I find myself in a time-sensitive situation.

I envision my future workflow as a blend of traditional internet searches, active participation in forums and communities, and the consistent inclusion of AI, like ChatGPT, to streamline my programming tasks. It’s a powerful combination that promises to keep me on the cutting edge of accessibility and coding excellence.

Hello, world!

Hello, I’m Carolina! This is my last semester at OSU, and will graduate this December. I am really excited to complete the program and venture out to the tech world. This blog will be about my capstone project, semester progress, and anything tech related.

I started my coding journey during the pandemic. I was working for an accounting firm and we transitioned to work from home. During that time I realized I had more time to focus on my goal to learn how to code. I took some entry level courses at my local community college before I discovered OSU. Luckily, I was able to transfer those courses when I was accepted into the program. From there I worked full time and took two courses every semester.

Last year I was selected for the GHC scholarship with my other classmates and was able to attend the conference. This was my opportunity to connect with companies and show off my skills. From that conference I was able to secure an internship. My plan was to continue working at my current job until I get an internship and then use my last semester to focus on my last two courses to graduate.

This summer I was an intern at Bank of America in their Global Technology program. I spent my summer in NJ/NYC and gained valuable experience from the bank. The technology was all new to me but I had experience in a corporate setting. So it was not as terrifying as I thought it would be. The internship gave me a confidence boost because the imposter syndrome I had in the beginning was going away and I was really lucky to have a supportive team.

This semester I will be taking capstone and 344(374) and searching for my new full time role. I will be busy! But I am excited that I am almost to the finish line. My motivations are of course my family, my boyfriend and my three dogs! I am excited to join my team and create an awesome project. I wish you all a great capstone!
