The Painted Turtle (medical specialty camp)
DescriptionMake a difference this summer at The Painted Turtle, a medical specialty camp in California for children with serious medical conditions. We are seeking fun, enthusiastic and responsible individuals for our 2012 staff team. We offer both paid summer positions and year-round volunteering opportunities.
We are a member of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, a family of camps first started by Paul Newman. Through therapeutic, safe, and just plain fun year-round programs, The Painted Turtle provides a life-changing, free-of-charge experience to children facing serious illness.
Our dedicated staff team is made up of individuals from all over the world, bonded together by one goal: to shape our campers experience at The Painted Turtle into an empowering, unforgettable adventure.
We are currently seeking Cabin, Program and Leadership staff for Summer 2012.
Paid positions require a summer commitment from June 3 until August 22, including a week-long, mandatory staff orientation. Select positions require earlier start dates, including:
Adventure Team: May 27
Waterfront Team: May 28
Bale Leaders and PFDs: May 28
Entertainment Team: May 29
Leadership: TBA
If you are unable to work for the duration of the summer, consider joining our volunteer team for a week-long Cabin Counselor opportunity.

Positions include housing for the duration of the summer and meals while camp in session. We hire international staff! (Hired individuals are responsible for their own visa costs.)
Paid positions include Cabin Counselor and Program Counselor roles. Program areas include Entertainment Team, Camp Musician, Creative Arts (Theatre and Moviemaking), Waterfront Team (Lifeguards for Pool/ Fishing and Boating), Adventure Team (High/Low Ropes & Teambuilding, Archery), Arts and Crafts, Woodshop, Discovery (Nature & Science), and Camp Photographer. We also offer seasonal camp leadership positions.
In addition to our paid summer positions, The Painted Turtle also offers year-round volunteer opportunities. Volunteering is a great way to get involved with our program! Please see our website for more details.
