I learned that I will sometime use problem focused strategies to cope with stress, although personally I find this difficult when I have no control over the situation including the inability to influence or change it. Thus it was suggested to me to take action in order to modify or change a stressor in order to better cope with it.

I also learned that “my interactions with others, while generally characterized by warmth and tolerance, are also at times tinged with impatience and hostility”. When I am stressed out or irritated I usually have a lower tolerance I normally do, and instead have a tendency to get frustrated very quickly. Looking back on past experiences I have had with conflict and issues with family friends or co workers, they have been very rare and infrequent. Usually I whatever caused the issue to arise, I would have ignored or shrugged off, yet due to my own emotional state or event happening in my personal life, I became agitated and spoke out.

After investigating some local companies in Corvallis, I learned that Walmart “associates and family members are eligible for up to 10 no-cost virtual counseling sessions per concern through Resources for Living (RFL)”. I thought this was a really excellent implementation because these session can help employees work through and create different strategies to cope and handle stress in the work place. Walmart also provided flexible work hours/time off, a sleep/meditation/gratitude app, and free wellness webinars. All of these resources are excellent Discretionary Benefits that can encourage people to apply for and continue to work at Walmart. I know I would thoroughly appreciate a company that provided these resources and would be a be inclined to take a position there as oppose to a higher paying position without these included.

https://chainstoreage.com/walmart-promotes-employee-well-being-high-tech-services#:~:text=No%2Dcost%20virtual%20counseling%3A%20Walmart,parenting%2C%20anxiety%2C%20or%20grief.

I thoroughly enjoyed taking the different type of personality and stress tests because it allowed me to gain a better understanding of myself and how I can better address stressful situations.
