(REI), Capital One, and Adobe System Incorporated. All these companies are in different industries, and I wanted to be able to evaluate different sector markets. This will give me a greater perspective on how each company practices HR.

REI had a unique perspective on HR which is serving a purpose and having a real passion for what they do in creating outdoor equipment for people to explore the world (REI,2019). Based on what employees say, it sounds like REI does the right thing and is always grounded in their core values which is their passion for the outdoors (REI,2019). Tying into the course material, REI functions in an ethical way and its management team influences its employees to do the same. They participate in programs to retrieve employee satisfaction and data. This allows them to better serve their employees and customers.

Capital One employees feel at ease with their identities and feel accepted by the company no matter who they are (Capital, 2022). 94% of employees say Capital one is a great place to work (Capital, 2022). They practice HR by focusing on their people, culture, and their associates (Capital,2022).

Adobe system incorporated which was ranked 35th in the rankings focuses on promising their employees what they preach(Adobe,2021). They also inspire creativity and innovation so they would most likely be reaching out to an external pool of potential employees for new hires. Their employees like to work at adobe for their people, benefits, and culture (Adobe,2021).

Once I become a manager, I want to have similar values to these great companies because they are all here for a reason. The main trend I tend to see is caring and having your employee’s best interest. Understanding businesses are made to make a profit, but never forget how all the profit is made. I think making this distinction clear to the people you manage can be the most difficult part. Some employees might think it’s all about the money but as a manager, it is my job to not make it seem that way.

Works Cited

Adobe 2021. “Working at Adobe Systems Incorporated.” Great Place to Work®, 2021, www.greatplacetowork.com/certified-company/1000005.
