The case for recruitment & selection

Why might organizations decide to allocate more resources toward marketing or product design rather than using those same resources to do a really good job in employee recruitment and selection?

All organizations want to make sure they have the best resources at the lowest cost or expense. Human resource is one of the most important resources for an organization because employees are the ones who integrate all the processes like the manufacturing of the product to marketing to placing on shelves and in the service sector companies fight over best human resources since they can make or break their service business. When an organization allocates more resource to hire more competent and skilled employees according to their needs and train them, these employees become their competitive advantage. I would like to give an example of Zapoos they hire people who are more tolerant and happier who are willing to go on hours on calls with customers. This shows how much important it is to hire the right employees and allocating enough resources to do that.

2. What are the potential strengths and weaknesses of an organization’s decision to not prioritize recruitment and selection in favor of a focus on other aspects of the business?

When an organization neglects its recruitment and selection process, they are not only putting the organization’s rapport and finances in danger they create a loop or re-recruiting because once an employee is carelessly selected the employee’s negligence can cause the company millions and more for recruiting the new employee. There are times when an employee shows the raw skills a company needs but they do not have the expertise and many organizations refuse to take them due to the fact that organizations don’t want to spend on training their employees. Training of the employees is also necessary to make sure the employees learn the proper skills and keep pace with new technology and market standards. Other parts or departments of an organization do need resources too, but the human resources are the ones that integrate all the departments and processes to create a final product.
