Almost Halfway There….

Capstone has been a great experience so far learning to work with our project sponsor and working with two other “career-changers”.  Thus far we have been working through different software architectural patterns, and navigating the different requirements from our project sponsor.

I think our biggest challenge to this point has been trying to settle in on a specific strategy using the different components and libraries associated with the project.  Based on our last call with our sponsor, I think we finally have a full direction and are hoping to move forward to presenting the full-scale running architecture for one trading algorithm.  We won’t have a UI setup for this project “run-through” but it will give us a sense of if this process is going to yield something that could be useful for optimizing a trading algorithm.

But to work through all of these architectural challenges we have used miro as our online whiteboard.  I have taken on the role of trying to actively update the architecture based on the latest code written, latest libraries, and any changes.  Thus far I have found miro to be pretty easy to use, and diagram out the different architectures.  Also helpful to screenshot different code snippets and save into our whiteboard, and also saving part of the project plan schedule so that we can keep all referenceable materials in one location.

We also have been using discord to communicate what we’ve found between our weekly-standup on Saturdays, and our project sponsor meetings on monday.  We’ve set up two discords, one for the internal project capstone project group and one that includes our project mentor.  So far that’s been helpful to keep in touch and has been quicker than email in my opinion.

Overall I think we’re on track to succeed.  We’ve done a good job of keeping an open dialog and communicating about the different facets of the project both internally and with our sponsor.  It does feel like we are headed towards a bigger crunch in the second half of the project, but I think that was always to be expected based on our project plan.
