Some human non-infectious diseases that I think are influenced by microorganisms include Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, asthma, and cancer. I have previously done research on Alzheimer’s disease and I know that there are lots of risk factors that can contribute to the onset of this disease. From anatomy and physiology, I’m also aware of how microorganisms can impact different bodily functions/structures. After class on Tuesday, I now know that microorganisms can influence cancer, which I find extremely interesting.
