Based on the various stress management tests taken, I have a fairly non-stressful life and I do a pretty good job of finding outlets and coping methods during high stress situations. As a person, I tend to be more on the introverted side of things and keep to myself. I am a highly independent person who sometimes tries to do too much on my own. When I have a lot of responsibilities to take care of and I am in a high stress situation, sometimes I can get overwhelmed because I try to do everything on my own due to my independent personality. A crucial step that I need to take and that I am currently working on taking as I progress through my professional career to help me manage stress, is actively reaching out to people for help and using my resources around me. I have found that I enjoy work and certain assignments a lot more when I involve others and seek out their input and advice. Us humans are naturally social creatures and it is important to be able to communicate your ideas, thoughts, and concerns with others, rather than holding it all it and trying to do everything on your own. It is essential to create and build genuine relationships in your workplace in order to craft a support system around you. Stress is a major concern for organizations due to the fact that workplace stress has adverse effects on workers’ mental health, with an increased risk of anxiety, burnout, depression, and substance use disorders (Corporate Wellness Magazine, 2021). Stress is a very real threat to the health of workers worldwide and it is essential for organizations to provide assistance for their employees in order to manage their health and cope with their stress. Organizations help their employees with stress management by providing the necessary resources such as psychologists, mentors, and employee bonding activities. Organizations also make sure to raise awareness about the harms of stress in the workplace and encourage employees to be open and honest about their mental health so that they can use the resources available to them.
