Job Description Accuracy!

Personal experience: job searching can be by far the most frustrating time, while reading through all of the job descriptions to find out if this is a job that you are qualified for. These job descriptions give you the confidence to apply or decide that it isn’t worth applying to, as you will not be able to perform the job functions.

Some ideas: Providing the most up-to-date, accurate job descriptions will allow for fewer grievances within the company (Tyler, 2013). Companies should remember that this will provide longevity for employees. The companies would have less risk in having employee claims against them as well, which should be the ultimate goal to aim towards (Tyler, 2013). Providing the knowledge and education around the job analysis to paint a picture of the day-to-day accuracy should be the bare minimum. I feel that using KSAOs would be a great way to allow potential employees a way to visualize the aspects of how they will be performing the job duties. Companies need to understand that everyone learns differently, and having KSAO’s written out and then formally trained by completing their training should give a better backbone to join the company. Managers who are completing the interviews should verbally explain the job description and give an accurate description with examples of what their day-to-day is to look like. This would allow the interviewee to agree if it is a good fit for them. If it isn’t, then this would allow them to have the opportunity to speak up and not accept a potential offer. If it is, then this should give them no surprise when it comes to accepting the position as long as the company and managers are being one hundred percent accurate with these.
