Pros: Unions set standard pay while negotiating for the proper employee pay (Benefits of union membership). By being a part of a union having health coverage is a priority and has a higher probability of having a guaranteed pension (Benefits of union membership).

Overall, the benefits of the union membership website correlated with Week 10’s learning material for the most part. The biggest part was the vast amount of people who are within a union. I personally haven’t been a part of a labor union. I’m not sure of anyone who has personally been a part of it either. I know my sisters boyfriend is working on getting into an apprenticeship and will be involved in the carpentry labor union. He has positive thoughts on becoming a part of it. My sister is excited about him being with the union as well especially since they live in the Seattle, Washington area and there can be a lot of job issues in the bigger cities. Being involved in medical care when I graduate, I would like to think that I would appreciate the confidence that my union representative would have my best interest at all times.
Cons: Minor con in my eyes about a labor union when they maintain schedules regarding seniority. It would make it harder for new employees to start out. Have to be apart of the mass majority of the union decisions. They put limits on striking and boycotting which could be hard if one really felt strongly about being mistreated.
