The capstone project represents the culmination of nearly four years of CS study. In this time, I’ve progressed professionally at my non-CS job (including some value-add CS work), had two children, and continued to remodel our family’s home solo. This has been a long, arduous journey with challenges across all aspects of my career, studies, and life in general.
I am looking forward to putting a final seal on my great experience at OSU. Personally, one of the most significant challenges during this process has been the maintenance of all the knowledge I have gained throughout the required and elective courses. The experience of taking one class each term (excluding a couple summers) over such a long time period unfortunately means that I have assuredly forgotten a lot of what I have learned over this time period. This is further complicated by the fact that my main interests lie in more of the “foundational” or “low-level” elements of CS such as operating systems, data structures, etc. For this course, there are not a lot of projects to select from that align with these interests. With that said, we will battle through! I am excited about experiencing a real world-like development project – a task with a high degree of freedom that will require considerable teamwork and independent study.
I am looking forward to sharing my journey as I learn (and relearn) everything that is required to produce a high quality result. I will be sharing both my challenges and triumphs as I work with my project team over the course of the term.
And with that, it begins…
