On October 9, 2020, the OSU College of Pharmacy welcomed the Class of 2024 into the Doctor of Pharmacy program at the 2020 Virtual White Coat Celebration. Students, family members, friends, faculty, and staff virtually gathered to watch the celebration video in a livestream viewing party. The video began with welcoming words from faculty members Paige Clark, Dr. Juancho Ramirez, and Dr. Gary DeLander. Then, Dean Grace Kuo led the Presentation of the White Coats. This year due to social distancing, we asked the students to have a family member or significant other help coat them at home. Pictures were displayed of the students in their coats with family and friends.
Dr. Tara Pfund (’09), the recipient of the 2020 College of Pharmacy Outstanding Young Alumnus Award, led students through the history and background of the white coat ceremony. Dr. Pfund stressed the significance and responsibility of the white coat. Dr. Lincoln Alexander (’15), welcomed students to the pharmacy profession on behalf of one of our Pharmacy Partners, Albertsons-Safeway Companies. He offered insight on how the pharmacy landscape is evolving quickly and offered words of wisdom on how to excel throughout pharmacy school. Thank you again to Albertsons-Safeway Pharmacy for the continued sponsorship of this event and ongoing partnership!
This year’s Student Executive Council President, Michelle Zhou (’23), led students through the Pledge of Professionalism. Each student recited the Pledge at home in front of family or friends after being coated. The celebration video ended with welcoming words from OSU College of Pharmacy faculty and staff.
