Tuesday, April 26, 2016 the College of Pharmacy hosted a pharmacy Law CE for the Linn Benton Pharmacy Association (LBPA). This annual one-hour event is sponsored and organized by local pharmacists and LBPA leaders Gil Seid, Tom Doane, and OSU’s Roberto Linares. Guest speaker Fiona Karbowicz, Pharmacist Consultant with the Oregon Board of Pharmacy (OBOP), spoke to the group about OBOP regulatory updates for 2016. Fiona touched on the laws and practice of prescribing contraceptives in Oregon and what compliance for those pharmacists entails. She also focused on new drug storage rules as well as biennial technician licensure requirements. The presentation sparked a lively conversation about the changes that are being experienced throughout the pharmacy profession and Fiona stayed late to answer additional questions from the crowd.

It was a fun and informational event that catered to the required Law CE needs of Pharmacists and Certified Pharmacy Technicians from around the Albany/Corvallis area. The College of Pharmacy is proud to continue to serve as the annual meeting place for this program as it brings local pharmacists together and allows local professionals to meet and take part in the discussion.
We look forward to hosting this event again next year!
