{"id":22,"date":"2020-05-18T02:18:21","date_gmt":"2020-05-18T02:18:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/basargik\/?p=22"},"modified":"2020-05-18T02:18:24","modified_gmt":"2020-05-18T02:18:24","slug":"writing-exercise-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/basargik\/2020\/05\/18\/writing-exercise-9\/","title":{"rendered":"Writing Exercise #9"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Changes in human activity which decrease our exposure to microbes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Increased hand washing:<\/strong> Many hand soaps today are anti-bacterial and remove microbes from our hands and thus  our overall exposure<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Urbanization of towns: The movement away from farm-lifestyles and into cities decreased our exposure to farm animals and the microbes they carry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Modern toilets and sewage: Fecal matter contains many microbes and our toilets and sewage have improved, reducing the risk of exposure to it and thus microbes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cleaning supplies: Household cleaning supplies are now used to kill bacteria on many different surfaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More time indoors: the outdoors, especially the dirt, is filled with many, many microbes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mode of Delivery for birth: Cesarean sections do not introduce newborns to the bacteria in the vaginal canal like in more traditional vaginal deliveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Antibiotic use: The point of these are to kill bacteria and other life without being specific to the kind, and reducing the total number that live in us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Limited exposure to others: Growing up with siblings or hanging out with other children increase our exposure to others, and thus having a limited exposure to others does the opposite.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Changes in human activity which decrease our exposure to microbes: Increased hand washing: Many hand soaps today are anti-bacterial and remove microbes from our hands and thus our overall exposure Urbanization of towns: The movement away from farm-lifestyles and into cities decreased our exposure to farm animals and the microbes they carry.
