Week 7 – IPIP Results & Reactions

I decided to take the longer version of this test, which was the 30-40 minute one as I wanted a comprehensive personality test. The results of my test showed that I scored the highest in extraversion and conscientiousness. I was average in agreeableness, and low in neuroticism and openness to exposure. This indicates that I have higher tendencies to be sociable with others, responsible, and organized in my work. I care about others feelings when completing a group project, and am usually calm and practical. I believe this test did a pretty good job of summarizing my personality in these five dimensions.

A potential employer who is looking at this results might say my strengths are being a reliable team member who finishes their work on time and contributes well in a group, as I scored high in extraversion and conscientiousness. Additionally, I would be seen as self motivated and dedicated, which would be good strengths to have in both individual work and collaborative work. These strengths provide me with people skills as well as soft skills that I can utilize to finish tasks efficiently, but it could also lead me to burnout if I do not manage my expectations which is a weakness. Scoring average in agreeableness will allow for me to state my opinions in a group setting, enabling effective communication and facilitating good discussion to produce great work. I will not over or under value my team member’s emotions and feelings, which will be a good medium. A weakness would be me being too blunt in settings as I do not over value emotions. Similarly, I scored low in neuroticism, which will help me to maintain a sense of calmness and stay stable in high stress situations. Lastly, I scored low in openness to exposure, which is a weakness in terms of lacking creativity and being able to think outside the box.
