This is a really good chance for me to put all of my skills on display, especially considering VR requires a lot of thoughtfulness in programming and asset creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;re going to be making an <strong>immersive language learning game<\/strong>! Complete with pepper cats, or ghost peppurrs. I will be acting as a developer and artist for this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.discordapp.com\/attachments\/930186383417552966\/930681592551178240\/Untitled_Artwork.png\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption><em>First set of ghost peppurrs after realizing they may be easier to rig and animate than humanoid characters<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tasks Accomplished: Week 2<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Technical Tasks<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Art Tasks<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Set up team repo with Unity gitignore<\/td><td>Created moodboards for character, environment, and aesthetic design<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Created basic scene with XR rig set up<\/td><td>Designed character species<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Tested building on old Mac via Oculus Link<\/td><td>Created art asset list<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption><em>(as of writing this &#8212; there&#8217;s still Thursday and Friday for me to do some more)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-twentytwentyone-separator-thick\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Technical Issues Already?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>So despite having an older desktop Mac with an outdated graphics card, I should be able to do quick build tests via the Oculus Link and not constantly need to side load it. My Mac can recognize my Quest 2 via the Oculus Developer Hub (desktop app), but Unity can&#8217;t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"704\" height=\"678\" src=\"https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/5111\/files\/2022\/01\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-50\" srcset=\"https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/5111\/files\/2022\/01\/image.png 704w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/5111\/files\/2022\/01\/image-300x289.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 704px) 100vw, 704px\" \/><figcaption><em>But why?<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m thinking it&#8217;s my cable because I have to use a USB A-USB C adapter, but that doesn&#8217;t explain why Unity can&#8217;t recognize the Quest 2 and yet my Mac can. Based on some googling I should still be able to build for Android on macOS. I&#8217;ll continue looking up more solutions tomorrow since I spent most of today (Wednesday) trying to figure this out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-twentytwentyone-separator-thick\" \/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Starting Asset Creation:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Drawing lines again was pretty difficult for me after painting a lot of pixel art the past few months. For me, I stoped sketching before painting and instead start putting down silhouettes, then rendering them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.discordapp.com\/attachments\/930186383417552966\/930681675548069898\/Untitled_Artwork.png\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption><em>More<\/em> <em>ghost peppurrs<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p> You can see my sketching is pretty rough and tight, showing I&#8217;m out of practice.
