My first degree is in business administration and during that program I learned about startups. I fell in love with startups. I love how mission oriented they are and how much passion the people have for the work they do. I decided I wanted to work at a startup.
As part of the program, I took a course called Managing a Small Business on the Internet. It was a great course and during the last two weeks, everyone told the professor we wanted to learn how to code and so he sent us some resources to make our first website. It was awesome. I made a simple html webpage with basic css, but I wanted to do more! That is what started this journey into tech.
After I graduated, I began learning web development and eventually decided to do a coding bootcamp. That eventually helped me land my first job and I was able to achieve my goal of working at a startup. However during my time working as a software engineer I realized how much fundamentals I was missing, which led me to OSU.
OSU has provided me the structure to learn hard topics in a digestible manner and helped me build up my confidence. I have seen my software engineering, problem solving, and algorithmic skills improve throughout my time here, but the confidence is the most important thing that I can walk away with from my time here at OSU.
