First blog post while we wait for projects to be assigned!
Capstone has always been in the back of my mind since starting the program, and it’s exciting to finally be here. Looking over all the possible projects was both fun and a little overwhelming, there were just so many interesting options! After some discussion, my team and I narrowed it down to six:
- Microcontroller Home Humidity Sensor
- Build an Emulator and Run Space Invaders ROM
- ML Breakout
- Malware Analysis
- Website Security Research Project
- Escape Room Challenge
Our team unanimously ranked the Microcontroller Home Humidity Sensor as our top choice. All of us wanted to dip our toes with hardware and embedded systems and it looked like the perfect project for that. The scope feels manageable but has the potential to expand with stretch goals if we have time. Adding things like calibration options, smart home integration, and maybe even some basic AI/ML to predict patterns would be interesting to explore.
With that said, what excites me most is that all of the projects we chose have the right balance of being interesting, challenging, and within the abilities of everybody in our team. No matter which project we end up with, I know it’s going to be a fun experience!
