When I was getting recruited to play collegiate golf for a university, I only looked at schools that offered me full ride scholarships. Compensation was the biggest factor in my decision because it justified the hard work I put in for so many years by being able to get rewarded by a scholarship. I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity. I was offered a handful of full rides and I ended up choosing Oregon State because of the other benefits they offered such as a great team environment and proximity to home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Having a full ride scholarship increases my work ethic and appreciation for what I have. It also justifies the dedication and work I have put in. When I have a bad day on the course, my motivation is that I am getting this experience and my degrees for free, so it gives me an extra incentive to put in more intensity and direction to grind to earn what I have. If I didn\u2019t have a full ride, I wouldn\u2019t feel as much of a need or desire to put 100% effort in because I am not earning 100% of compensation in return. The full scholarship put into perspective what I have earned with hard work. My coaches chose to believe in my skills so to be fair to them I want to put all of my effort in return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
